The Manicure That Lasts One Month

For the past several years I have been an on and off again shellac manicure girl. I love that shellac lasts longer than a regular manicure (up to 2 weeks) but I hate that when it chips I can't take it off by myself plus my nails definetely get thin and brittle.

A month and a half ago, Tracy at Natural Nails & Spa in Edwards, CO recommended that I try a dip-powder manicure. I was unaware of this new (ok, not so new, but new to me) type of manicure. She explained that it will last up to 3-4 weeks and will keep my nails much stronger. I decided to give it a try.

My first dip-powder manicure was insane. No chipping, no peeling and still in perfect condition at the 4 week mark. The only noticable change was the growth from the cuticle bed. I went with a very light pink color so the grow out wasn't that obvious. I'm now on my second dip-powder manicure and love that I don't have to go back for an entire month. Just like shellac manicures, I plan on giving my nails a breather after the second month or so.

A few things to consider prior to a Dip-Powder Manicure...

The Price. Dip-Powder nails average around $50, Shellac nails $35 and natural manicure $20.
The Color. Dip-Powder nails can last up to one month (or longer) so you need to choose your color accordingly.
The Shape. Do you prefer a round, oval, square or pointed nail shape?
The Salon. Please do your research and find a reputable, clean and professional nail salon.
Go Naked. I know you will love your dip-powder nails, but nail health is important. Give your nails a break in between your manicures and go naked.
