The Proper Order to Apply Your Skincare Products
With all of the cleansers, toners, serums, lotions and more skincare products out there, your skincare routine can get super overwhelming. And it can be totally confusing which step goes when and why.
Applying your skincare products in the correct order ensures that your skin receives the full benefits of each product. Therefore, the order of application is extremely important. So how can you remember what goes 1st, 2nd or 3rd? An easy rule of thumb to follow is to apply your skincare products thinnest to thickest in consistency.
Follow the proper order to apply your skincare below.
Step 1 - Cleanser
In the morning, start by splashing your face with warm water then wash with a gentle face cleanser designed for your skin type. Cleanse, exfoliate and remove all makeup and residue from your face. I love Cetaphil cleanser and it is gentle enough for my little's skin too!
SPLURGE
Tata Harper's Regenerating Cleanser is a daily cleansing & exfoliating treatment that buffs and polishes for radiant, healthy looking skin. I absolutely adore this skin care line - farm fresh!
Step 2 - Toner
What the hell is toner and do I need to use it?
Face toner helps remove excess dirt, traces of oil and makeup, correct and balance the ph of your skin, and helps control acne. It brings your skin back to it's natural acidic state, sweeping impurities away and helping your skin absorb your skin care products. Think of toner as like a primer for the rest of your skincare routine.
So the answer is "yes" you need to add a toner it to your skin care regimen!
SAVE
Kiehls Ultra Facial Toner is a mild formula that removes surface debris and remaining residue while preparing skin for a serum and moisturizer. This toner also helps refine surface texture while hydrating and comforting the skin.
Step 3 - Serum
Serum is a skin care product you apply to your skin after cleansing and toning but before moisturizing (remember thinnest to thickest in consistency). A face serum is made up of smaller molecules that can penetrate deeply into the skin and deliver a very high concentration of active ingredients.
Whatever your concern is with your skin - wrinkles, dullness, acne, sagging, pigmentation- you name it, there is a serum for it!
This is the skincare category I would recommend to SPLURGE on vs SAVE.

Thank you La Mer for gifting me this luxurious serum!!!
Step 4 - Eye Cream
Do you really need to use an eye cream?
Depends on who you ask and what your concerns are around your eye. Technically if you don't have concerns with puffiness and or dark under eye area you could use your face moisturizer. Remember the skin around your eye is much thinner than the skin on your cheek and using a face moisturizer around your eye could cause milia.
Girl, if you are in your late 30's it's time to apply an eye cream!
Step 5 - Moisturizer
I love trying out all different types of face moisturizer and I am loving the Natura Bisse C +C Vitamin Cream right now! The citrus fragrance is amazing and the vitamin C helps to brighten my complexion!

Step 6 - Oil
Face Oils might be my favorite skincare product. Not only are they very hydrating they also contain antioxidants. I have found that patting the oil into the skin blends better than rubbing it in.
Select a budget and a desired result and add a face oil to supplement your skincare routine.
