How to Style Your Bed Like A Pro
With Salt Creek Home
Making my bed relaxes me and sets my day up for success (you can read about that here). Weird, I know, but this small achievement makes me happy. Now don't get it twisted, I don't iron my sheets or anything crazy like that, but I do appreciate how a well styled bed looks & feels. I love the look of a tucked-in quilt and a lofty duvet, both featuring subtle palettes and or patterns. Creating a bed that's pretty, cozy and inviting is a priority for me - afterall we spend one third of our lives sleeping.
"In my opinion a layered bed creates a chic and sophisticated bedroom look."
Here are a few tips on
How To Style
Your Bed Like A Pro...
Tip 1 Flat Sheet Wrong Side Up
When making your bed and placing the flat sheet on top, remember that the flat sheet always goes wrong side up. That way, when you fold it back over the quilt, the right side will be displayed.

Tip 2 Stuff & Fluff Your Duvet
The key to a hotel bed look is a fluffy duvet. And the key to a fluffy duvet is how you stuff the down comforter into the duvet. Follow these steps so you don't get frusturated!
Step 1: Lay the comforter flat on top of the mattress. Step 2: Take your duvet cover and turn it inside out, reach down to grab hold of the comforter's two top corners. Step 3: With your hands inside the duvet cover, reach down to grab hold of the comforter's top two corners. Step 4: Pull the duvet cover down. Stuff the bottom two corners of the comforter inside the bottom two corners of the duvet cover. Once everything is aligned, button or zip it up, give it a good fluff and you are set!

Tip 3 Use Pillow Shams
Use pillow shams when you are styling your bed, they add sophistication and a finished look. Don't be afraid to mix and match prints and patterns.

Tip 4 Add Accent Pillows
Make sure to layer various sizes and styles of pillows - this will create depth and dimension and a chic curated look. Don't forget a good karate chop to finish the look.

Tip 5 Layer, Layer, Layer
Add layers to create interest. I added multiple layers to create contrast and visual interest. Blending various tones and textures, like my white pintucked quilt, black and white striped throw and white with blue detailing duvet. Creating a sophisticated look.

Tip 6 Tuck, Fold and Leave Out
Here's a quick guide on how to style your sheets, blankets and duvets.
Tuck: Sheets and blankets
Fold: Flat sheet, blanket and Duvet
Leave Out: Duvet (don't tuck under the matress)
Tip 7 Don't Forget The Details!
This is the best part! Don't forget to add personal touches to your bedroom. Favorite books look great stacked on your nightstand. A tray for drinks & snacks adds a bit of whimsy and certainly elevates a Netflix and Chill kind of evening. And of course, fresh flowers and a candle.
